Collision Damage Waiver

What is the Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) in rental cars?

The collision damage waiver is an agreement with a car rental company in which the renter is released from liability for damage to the vehicle for a fee, up to certain amounts. In the event of an accident, the renter is required to pay the amount of the damage up to agreed deductible amount.

In our company, the Collision Damage Waiver is mandatory and included in the car rental contract. So the renter has “primary” coverage for accidents or damages through his credit card which is a necessary condition for renting a car. The cost of the deductible depends on various factors, including the type of rental car etc.

Below, you will see the amounts of the liability waiver:

  • Mercedes C-Class/ Skoda Superb/ Volkswagen Passat – Touran / Citroen C4: €1,500.00
  • BMW 420/ Mercedes C-Class Convertible/ Mercedes Vito: €2,000.00
  • Mercedes E-Class/ Mercedes V-Class/ Porsche Carrera/ Porsche Boxster/ SUV: €3,000.00
  • Mercedes S-Class/ Range Rover VOGUE €4,000

Upon your receiving of the car, the corresponding deductible amount will be charged to the driver’s credit card. This amount will remain reserved until the car is received and inspected. At the end of the rental, the amount of the security deposit will be returned in full as long as no other charges arise.

In our company you have the option of reducing the deductible amount at an additional cost. See here for more information.
